 USC Student Killed in Hit-and-Run

A tragic hit-and-run involving a University of South Carolina student has sparked outrage across the state and reignited debate over immigration enforcement.

Nate Baker, a 21-year-old junior majoring in business at USC, was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle near the Columbia campus. The alleged driver, Hernandez Fernandez Cruz, reportedly ran a stop sign and fled the scene after striking Baker with his truck. Authorities later confirmed Fernandez Cruz is in the country illegally and was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the time of the crash.
